Stereo: What will fit: 1984 Bronco II’s used a shaft mount system, whereas all later models used a DIN style head unit (see diagram). The 1984 can use a DIN unit with dash modifications, or more simply, a newer dash bezel. The following is dimensions for stock locations. 1984: Head Unit: Shaft style, max depth 9” Speakers: Front: 3 ½” or 4” in dash, max depth, 1 5/8” Rear: (XLT) 5x7, max Depth, 3 3/8” (others) 6x8, max depth, 2 7/8” 1985-1988 Head Unit: DIN style, max depth 9” Speakers: Front: 3 ½” or 4” in dash, max depth, 1 5/8” Rear: (XLT) 5x7, max Depth, 3 3/8” (others) 6x8, max depth, 2 7/8” 1989-1990 Head Unit: DIN style, max depth 7 ¼” Speakers: Front: 6 ½” in door, max depth, 2 1/4” Rear: (XLT) 5x7, max Depth, 3 3/8” (others) 6x8, max depth, 2 7/8”
